Strange egg

Sheila V -- we had a duck egg(s) like that, but it was two halves stuck together. When I picked it up, the other have "fell away" Like instead of double yolker, it was two eggs conjoined, that then fell apart leaving each egg with exposed membrane end. The other half may have been soft and the chickens "took care of it themselves." I haven't had that since the girls first started laying.

I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on here. I found the secound egg pictured - in my coop yesterday and wanted to post for possible answers. My hen Paula layed it and she had a prolapsed vent last month- just started laying again- maybe had three correct eggs then this yesterday. The first picture is what I found today. She is nine months old and has been laying for over 3 months. She is a gersey jiant and a very big girl but lays pretty small eggs. Especially compared to her BFF an same age orpington that lays XL eggs with thick shells EVERY DAY!. Im a new chicken mom and need some guidence. Thoughts? Im going ti get some oyster shells today in case its that. I also live in Massachusetts. Thanks.
