Strange Incident and Unusual Feathers

@Chickassan @centrarchid You guys are right! It appears to be a great horned owl body feather!

Feather posted looks like what I find around where Great-horned Owls I have perch a lot.

Thank you for this answer. I found a very similar feather in my yard, fairly close to the coop. It was longer and just the feather part, very clean. Beautiful coloring. Not even close to any of the chickens. I know there are owls, Hawks, and even Eagles around and I was leaning towards a bird of prey, so this makes sense for me.

As soon as I saw the picture here I was hoping for an answer too.

Looks like a breast or belly feather.:)View attachment 1557879
I am thankful for every bit of experience I gain, whether it comes from personal experience or simply reading about it. This subject, predators, is one area I don't have personal experience in, thankfully. I know it's only a matter of time as long as I keep chickens, but I would just as soon only read about it.

I envy you. We have had some sort of poultry here since I was a kid, iv'e seen pretty much every possible way for things to get eaten. I have been very lucky with my hobby flock though i'm thinking they're too rotten to eat.:)
