OMG NEVER call an Aussie a Kiwi LMAO!

I found this post a little late but they are tawny frogmouths. I saw the first pic and just laughed, knowing exactly what they are. I would LOVE to have some, they are super cool and I saw them in the wild often when I lived in Australia

I've never seen anything like them.... I thought it was a photo shop thing, so I'm glad someone found them.
WE have a friend from Australia and I'll have to ask her!

I was dumbstruck when I saw those photos!

Tonight, I was looking through my bird book, and saw pics of the Common Poorwill, Whip-Poor-Will, Pauraque, and Chuck-Will's-Widow, and they look like they are in a similar family. The Lesser Nighthawk and Common Nighthawk look similar too. I didn't know we had such odd looking birds here in the US.

I actually meant bloody kiwi, as an insult. He has a great sense of humor, as his joke on me proves.

I watched a wildlife show the other night and there was a lizard of some sort they showed that has a mouth that looked just like the frogmouths. I wonder if they are related in some way..

Sorry to upset so many peoples sleep...

at least they don't have teeth, now that would be scary...

Love those birds. We have their cousins here in the states. Whippoorwills, Chuck's Will Widows and nighthawks.

Interesting post, the birds are real, but they are NOT any variety of chicken. If you posted a pic of an ostrich as a chicken, that would look weird, too! Nice pics!
