Strange poop...ughhh

And my next question...12 of my birds were together until mid September, should I treat all 12 now?? What is the timeframe till I can eat their eggs again, as it seems to vary by dosage strength?

I would treat them all to be on the safe side. I know it's a pain, however, Change the medicated water daily for 5 days. I read 14 days for egg withdrawl.

To clarify, Safeguard liquid goat wormer will NOT mix in water, it needs to be given orally, just like the paste. The only Safeguard that is water soluble is Safeguard Aquasol which is VERY expensive. The liquid goat wormer will settle out and the birds will not get the correct dose. Incorrect dosing leads to resistance to the medication. For the liquid goat wormer the correct dose for roundworms is .23ml per pound of bird weight, given orally, and dose is repeated in 10 days. It's not that hard, lock them in the coop at dark, go out first thing in the morning before it's light and take them off the roost and dose them. I do 2 dozen birds regularly this way.

So if I understand correctly, one dose orally for each bird tonight then repeat in 10 days? How effective is the Aquasol?

I would think the SafeGuard Aquasol is as effective, but it depends on if you want to spend $280 or $30.
Here is some reading and a link where to buy the Aquasol:

Most feed stores sell SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer, but you may need to buy the SafeGuard Aquasol online, and the link I gave is probably cheaper than some.

Yes, second dose is 10 days after the first. I don't actually know anyone personally that has used the aquasol due to the high price. I'm not sure it makes sense $$ wise unless you have an enormous amount of birds to do. They both contain the same medication, just that one is formulated to be water soluble and one is not, so they should be equally effective at the correct dose.

Usually TSC has 3 ml syringes, and rounding up to 1.5 is perfectly fine, I usually round up to the next mark rather than try to guess at tiny fractions. When giving orally give them .5 ml at a time and let them swallow, then repeat until the whole dose is given. That minimizes the chance of them aspirating any. For other meds that have a tiny dose you can get 1 ml oral syringes at most pharmacy's, just ask them. You can also buy them online, I get them in bulk on amazon.

Ok, got the oral solution. Is there any harm in slightly overdosing vs underdosing?? And for eggs, it's 14 days after each dose? Wow, $300 a pop is def not cheap!! Thanks all, this will be my first deworming, just want to get it right and keep my birds healthy!

Good tips there on incremental dosing, I got a syringe from a pharmacy in 1ml increments. Thanks!
