Strange Skunk

I have a skunk who digs around in my yard, and I live in fear that I will get sprayed. That's my reason to re-home the little guy. Also, if I don't shut the coop doors soon enough, he will go in and eat an egg or two. Once I found him curled up in a nestbox and it scared the living daylights out of me!! I'm hoping to trap mine soon and re-home him.

We killed the skunk that sprayed my dog last year. This year on memorial day weekend, one sprayed me and Pooh. She was headed under the corn crib and DH yelled skunk. I didnt think a 13yr doxie needed to tangle with a skunk. I ran and grabbed her and we both got it. Oh man, it stunk so bad. Pooh was totally peeved that she had to shower with mom. The next day one was dead on the road that didnt smell, we figured it was the same one. I havnt seen or smelled the one who is digging in the yard and its best for the skunk that it stays that way.

My run is pretty solid around the bottom since its concrete and the coop is concrete so I dont worry about them getting the chickens.

To get in my backyard with the chickens a skunk needs to scale an 8' privacy fence, or dig under it. Keeps nosy neighbors out too! I am guessing they would figure that is too much work and just move on. That was one expensive fence to put up, our backyard is about 1/3 of an acre. Sometimes we see skunks out on the roadside near our home. That's where the white one was. We have a very large wildlife preserve/park near our house, so we see lotsa critters.
