My chicken is constantly making this sound as of yesterday evening, coinciding with breathing. I fear it must be Ill as I have never heard this before. Any help greatly appreciated.

Sorry, not normal. Prior to yesterday evening it never made any relatable sound. Now making that sound constantly, and have noticed no food intake. I dont see any mucous or discharge anywhere. Is not eating anything

I think that is stridor, a sound they make when something is in the trachea or airway. It is similar to croup in children. It can be a tiny piece of feed, mucus, or swelling of the airway. In many cases this can disappear in a few hours if they have a good cough, but if it persists, it is most likely a respiratory infection, especially if accompanied by sneezing. I had a hen once who ate too quickly and got this a couple of times for several hours, then it cleared. Here are some threads to read where it cleared up:

Have heard similar sounds in chickens after them eating laying mash that was very fine and powdery. I quit feeding mine mash years ago and don't recall hearing that sound since.
