Strange Tracks in Pen *Logical Conclusion on Page 46*

Quote:
i couldn't tell if those tracks were in the pen this morning. i swept the area last night and i think all the leaves and such made it easier to see tracks.

Yeh, i'm not so sure about using a glue trap. Like, what do i do with the little guy when i find him stuck and he's still alive? i do have a humane trap that i set several nights in there. Of course, he completely ignored it. i can try again tonight. Or the other options are throwing rat bait under the coop he's living under. Or i could sit there for hours with a pellet gun and wait for him to come out. That's always loads of fun.

Set him in a trash bag duct tap a small piece of hose inside it run that into your tail pipe and block the hole some I use an old rag. the rat will fall asleep painlessly and never wake up.

I know! i feel responsible for the over-consumption of popcorn and coffee, plus neck problems from shoulder shrugging with this thread.

i suppose it's possible that the rat is making those marks, but not totally convinced. Arg! i'll keep trying! i have that second game cam coming from Walmart today. Between the two of them, i should get lots of pics, and hopefully not all of that one rat(!).

Please don't do that! I don't want want rats in my barn either, but it really isn't necessary to torture them.
Modern cars (especially in California) produce almost no carbon monoxide because of the emission control equipment. The only thing coming out of that tailpipe is boiling hot exhaust gas-not exactly quick and painless.

Glue traps aren't pleasant either. The glue doesn't kill the rat- it dies of starvation/dehydration/exposure. If it tries to escape, its skin or fur will rip out.

An old fashioned Victor snap trap, properly set, is instant and painless. A gun is OK, too, if you can handle it safely. You can also buy a Havahart "humane" trap and feed your poison bait to the rat after it's caught so it doesn't drag the bait out where other animals can get at it, or die in the hole.
