Strange wispy feather growth

Well, I would check her over as suggested for any odd scabs or lesions on the skin.

By any chance have you treated them for worms and used any other medication that might account for odd feather development?

No, I have never treated any of them for worms or used any other medication. About as far as I've gone to treat anything is diatomaceous earth for lice. I'll request some assistance to hold her while I check through her feathers for anything abnormal. Thanks!

I was thinking along the same line as @Saaniya genetics.

Did you hatch these yourself? Where did they come from a hatchery or local breeder?
If from a breeder, what other breeds of birds do they have?

If they're not due to something amiss, sure. I always picture her as my hooker chicken doing the "walk of shame"....lol. She looks like a disheveled mess with her feathers hanging everywhere and out of place, while the other ladies are all prim and proper with their perfectly coiffed butt fluff.

How old is she, and has she ever molted yet? It would be great if she molted and her new feathers all grew in normally. I have had many chickens over 8 1/2 years, and I have not seen this before.

She was just hatched last summer, so hasn't molted. These feathers just started coming in like this within the last few months. I noticed just two or so at first and tried pulling on one, thinking it was stuck on something in her feathers, but it was clearly attached. Slowly, more and more have developed. I'd be less surprised if she continued to produce these feathers all over than I would be if they all came back normal after a molt. It appears that it's continuing to progress and spread.

Has she started laying eggs yet? If you have a rooster, and can tell her eggs from the others, I would not hatch her eggs, so not to pass on the genes. I was hoping that some of the old timers would chime in if they have ever seen those kinds of feathers before. @dawg53, @TwoCrows, @azygous, have you all ever seen these kinds of feathers?

For what it’s worth my SLW has always had a comb and waddles that are paler for a bit then will gain color again. When she’s having a temper tantrum especially!
Your hen is still young...her comb is still coming in it will get much larger. My SLW was slow to develop and mature. She started dropping feathers (fuzzy undercoat) then her hackle feathers. Looks to me as if she’s having a soft molt. My SLW’s comb didn’t truly mature until she was a year old.
