Stray cat...?

Pics
The cats - once neutered and returned - STILL are an invasive species, wrecking havoc with wildlife. They also have a SIGNIFICANTLY shorter lifespan in the wild. LOSE LOSE situation, to my mind....
I will agree to this statement, however, we can't fix the stupid of the original owners who dumped them. I do not know why people think country life is the best place for their cats/dogs. It is very inhumane.

Please be civil.
Absolutely. The concerned member does not want a cat, however. I understand that many here are animal lovers in general, and include cats in this, but I have struggled in making some cat lovers aware of how destructive their pets can be to wildlife, and how they can be a nuisance to other people when on THEIR property. I have lived in a house where a feral cat took residence in my rafters. Much of how we address this is subject to our own experiences. I am simply calling for others to approach this from multiple perspectives.

I suggest a larger property? I know my cat only patrols this one and doesn't bother the neighbors or their livestock. Not like I live on huge acerage or anything just it satisfies our cat, but sure life on a quarter acre my cat roamed.

He is absolutely valuable here.

I agree that so many cats do kill native songbirds and other wanted wildlife. Responsible owners frequently put bells on their collars. Regardless, when you have one that predates chicken predators like I have you get a bit sensitive about it. Were our cat to go after our green jay family we would be horribly upset with him. He would for sure get a collar and a bell.

So we have an update. We may know who the owners are....
The people across the street from us. We recently saw the cat go to their yard a few times. No affiance to our neighbors, but they seem like the kind of people who wouldn’t care for their cat and just let it go about.

So sorry to hear you have crummy neighbors. If you want the cat feed it and it will be yours.

I will definitely think about that option.....:celebrate
When rats get a taste for chicken food the cat deals with them. When possum get a taste for chicken the cat deals with them. I'm sure he is useless against bears but we do not have those here. People in the Texas thread have referred to my boy as a bobcat because of the prey he takes down.
