Stray chicken in need of ID

Start perhaps with a bath so you can assess her color, age and health better? Agreed with quarantine from your flock, you just never know.

Someone may have had a predator attack or other scare scatter their flock. You may want to keep an eye open for lost notices.

Girl! You might want to post on a trusted local poultry group and see if anyone lost a chicken, she could be a family bird and they seriously miss her. Great job taking her in!

Not an Opal Legbar, she doesn’t have a crest. And the feather colouring is different. I’m guessing a mottled lavender leghorn project pullet and whoever lost her is probably pretty sad. And the guess of 5 months seems spot on. Her comb isn’t big/red enough for her to be full grown. She probably hasn’t started laying yet.

I would not bathe a chicken in the winter time. Especially one that is most likely stressed.

Agreed. Looks to be her actual feather colouring. She doesn’t look too dirty at all.

I bathe only as necessary but make it spa time and use a hair dryer. The chickens LOVE it, lol.they always fall asleep while being dried.

I bathe mine as well, but this is a lost chicken that was running loose. It is stressed for multiple reasons. From a health and well-being standpoint, a bath is a bad idea.
