Expecting my first round of chicks. It's been 23days, any day now. Did this morning's feeding, watering, coop cleaning, inspected coop and we'll being of flock. Evening feeding time I approached the coop to repeat and our rooster had a baby baby in his beck tanning around the coop from all of our hens. What a shock. Really I couldn't believe it. I removed our brooding hen and eggs from flock and placed her in a dog kennel in a box . She went right back to her brooding. The stress part now is can I successfully have her complete what we started. She is such a good browser. I believe she will be a good mommy. I've decided to let her to all the work. I'm excited to see the whole experience being a city girl and all. The chic we lost looked to be a male chic. It looked just like our hairy foot rooster.

I can Feel For you----that's one reason why I separate Every broody hen----usually before I set the eggs under her. I have awesome hatch results and never see what you seen----anymore. I also keep the chicks separated after the hatch from the flock so I do not have to worry about some of them getting hurt/killed.

Any new chicks today?
Hi, no chicks today. Still waiting. I carefully picked up four eggs and candles them and placed them back with out moving them in any way. The eggs are f orsure full with just the air sack. Forsure anytime. Maybe, in the morning I'll have new wee ones with coffee time. And yes, I do feel much better moving them away from flock.
