Strongly suspect Mareks: Looking for advice, support, success stories, and hugs

We had just one get sick in our vaccinated flock. She became sick about ... 6 weeks ago maybe? Lingered for a hard 10 days or so before our vet friend came and helped her slip away gently. I was worried about the rest of our flock, but the vet (an exotic animals and birds specialist) said that in a vaccinated flock, there's no need to panic, probably things will be ok. And so far, she's right. All the rest of the chickens (9 pullets and an oopsie rooster) have been fine in the weeks since then ... here's hoping they all remain fine.

Sorry you lost one, but it's great to hear the others are holding steady!

It's funny, now that I think about it, the BFF of Ginny, our Delaware "Luna Lovegood" limped about 2 weeks ago for about 2 days. I was just about to separate her to "Chicken Time Out" and boom, she was better the next day. Her limp was not as bad, but was similar. At first, when I saw this one limp, I thought, maybe my roost was too high or something for both to hurt themselves. My coop is 3ftx6ft x 5ft high with about 2 ft underneath raised. The roosts are about 3 ft high, and 2 ft high. The nests are about 13in. I have a pic of the inside from the "Egg cam" in the rafters, and the outside security cam view too. I don't think it's too tall?

If I understand you correctly, the roost height is about 3 feet (36 inches) from the coop floor? That is not too high.

If it is 5 feet high, then yes, for larger type fowl, that can be a bit high, but not for game type fowl (who often fly into the trees or to the top of the coop roof, as personally experienced).

Hmmmm....Delaware limped a couple of days? Hmmmmm.....

Could be Marek's....or not. :/

Roost is 3 ft from coop floor, then another 2 ft down out the pop door. Sometimes I have seen them try to fly all the way off the roost down to the ground, but I think they are all too fat to do that now. They have room to land and reset before going out the pop door. You can't see it by the angle of the cam, because there is a shelf with all our "human junk" on it. There is an area under the 2 nest boxes about 13inx26in where there is a small water and walking room. They only stay in the coop to sleep at night, they are out in the run all day.

May I ask what model camera you use?

It is a Foscam model C2. http://foscam.us/products/foscam-c2-white-indoor-hd-1080p-wireless-p2p-ip-camera.html It is on the Wifi network, as we have electricity running to the coop. It has motion and sound detection and infrared (night) vision. My husband let me "borrow it" for a bit after we had a fox incident. LOL...that thing is NEVER coming down, I love watching them. We have had a ball all summer securing the coop, automating the pop door (we run it on our Smart things/ Alexa app to open at sunrise, close at Sunset) My daughter and I have been decorating....We love these birds
