Stubborn case of Bumblefoot

I use a curette like this:

It's not super sharp, not like a knife, more like a tiny spoon, but enough to dig out the pus. I got mine on Amazon, this one is currently not available, but I'm sure there are other brands. It was $7 when I bought it, its a #2/4 (size of ends).

4 things:
1. The wound needs to be reclean and drained
2. disnfect the wound and smear it with antibiotics directly in the wound.
3. The wound must be bandaged for 5 days.
4. It needs to get some antibiotic injection .

Nessa, My vet was hesitant to drain it as well, but ultimately decided to do so because there was just so much pus. She'd press her thumb into the swollen pockets on his foot and the pus would move into a different area of the foot. I was able to keep the two incisions she made clean and dry, plus he was on the antibiotics at that time.

Coach, Thank you for the additional information. I'lll browse Amazon and see what I find. I thought currettes were sharper. I've been using tweezers and probes that came in a dissection kit I purchased.

Akrnaf, I am doing items 1 through 4 and working on getting another course of antibiotics. What antibiotic would you suggest? My vet had prescribed Baytril.

My first vet had her on Baytril but that didn't work for mine I have her on a different one now and it is working very well

@MilesFluffybutt Ok so the antibiotics my chicken is on is called Clavamox (which is Amoxicillin / Clavulanic acid). My chicken takes 1/4 of a 625 mg tablet twice a day. About a week ago I actually ran out of the medicine and I was just able to get it again today but if I wouldn't have run out of it im sure it would've been healed by now.

My chicken also takes Meloxicam as an anti-inflammatory liquid medication. She takes 1 cc of it every three days to help with the pain and tenderness of the bumble foot.
