Ok I have got 3 so far of small eggs no they are not the giunea hens just in case you may wonder I got this before the giunea hen was here anyhow the egg is small and it has no yoke it is all white now what would cause a chicken to continue to lay small eggs and ones with no yoke the egg size is about the size of a bantam any ideas I have them on crumble and they is oyster shell in that they can eat anytime they want. they eat fine and drink and do chicken things I have one that is broody and will not give it up I throw her off nest every day take all eggs but she will not let up. think she could be laying these eggs??

I suspect it's a brand new laying hen. That can happen, and I have gotten two in my chicken raising experience. I think the vent is just so narrow when they first begin producing eggs so they start small and gradually get bigger.. or the hen just had an off day, although it mainly seems to happen in the new layers.

That's a quarter. No yolk inside when I finally cracked it. I've had two of these ever and I've probably had about 50 chickens in my time.

If your hen is consistently laying 'fart' eggs-tiny egg with no yolk, she might have problem with her chicken egg making factory. If she is young she might work things out, however, if she continues to lay tiny eggs she just might have a defect and never lay a proper sized egg. You can then decide to keep her as a pet or cull her. Pullets (hens less than a year of age) may take a month or two to sort out the details on making a nice egg. You'll get soft shells, double yolk, and occasionally you'll see what look like a mummified body part. As long as your girl is eating and active, and the diet is correct, she'll do fine.

And you can always market the egg as 'child sized'!

I don't know which one and nah... I am not going to send her to Chicken heaven my husband on the other hand he may want to but I have 5 hens in one place and they all lay it seems in one nest I have had 4 of these so far they are all 1 year old Gee that year went fast. and I am now getting them ok next stupid question is it ok to eat them gee I know I come up with some winning questions but soft shell it is yes and some other question were a yes I assume it is a yes but I can tell husband yes eat it it is no chelestoral in it :)

They all are ating fine the boody one I thought might be doing this but she lays bluish eggs so it can't be her by the way I took her out away from the nest for a day and she will not let go of being boody I don't want any more chicks and I put her in a small dog crate over night took her out the next morning and she walked aroiund the house ok no cussing at me or anything so I thought she was done put her with the mob and BINGO she is broody don't have a extra place to put her any ideas I through her out of the coop every day and watch to see she eats YUP so do I have anything to be concerned over? do I?
