Ok so i know the volcano errupting and disableing british air space was not planned and people have to have holidays or we would all go mad but why in the world would someone go on holiday and leave a dog in there house just sending a neighbor round twice a day to feed it who knows nothing about animals and tell them that it doesnt need walking as it can get into the garden which is tiny.

now i know this doesnt seem too bad but today the kind lady who has been looking after the dog found what she thought was a dead baby rabbit in the dogs garden she asked my freind who is the neighbor on her other side if she new what it was and she put it in her freezer as she wasnt sure to ask me as ive worked with animals at a vets to my complete shock it wasnt a dead rabbit as the neighbor thought it was infact a full formed puppy that must have either been born stillborn or died in the garden due to the weather.

now the dog is locked in all night which is what the owners told her to do let it out in the morning and leave the back door open so she can come and go as they have buildes in referbing there house for them while they are away and bring her in at the night lat night the dog howled and cryed nearly all night so i think she had had the puppy and as she is young didnt know what to do but when she was locked in new something was wrong, well im not a vet so when i looked at the dog she appeared dropped in the stomach and her milk seemed in so i told the nice lady that the dog needed to get to the vets, as the dog was stressed she would probably try and halt he labour which could cause the puppy's if there are anymore to die and also casue the mother to die if she got an internal infection from the dead pups or if that was the only pup she may not have passed the placenta all in all very dangerous.

so she calls the owner and tells them whats happening and they say that they didnt know she was pregnant (as there idea of walking there dog is letting her run free over the fields behind there house where everyone walk there dogs off lead so probably got served by someones un-neutered pooch) and that they didnt really have money for her to take the dog to the vets and would prefer it if they didnt as it cost's too much!

now i know cost is a big issue for everyone but these people have everything they have 2 brand new 2010 plate cars bmw and subru they are having there house referbished every room and they are on a 2 week holiday in Rome and they expect me to believe they dont have the money the dog could die and all they care about is there flash cars and holidays abroad sorry to rant on but this really upset me even the kind lady who doesnt know a thing about animals say's they are just tight and dont care about the dog they only have it as there son said he wanted one when he was 12 and they got it him for christmas and we all Know how those storys end.

Fairy, can the caring friend get the dog to a vet or the RSPCA? If so, that's a good place to start, and the pup's body needs to be taken in as well.

She will be sticking her neck out quite a bit, and should be prepared for anger and/or retribution by the owners - who are the ones who should be caged.

So sorry you've landed in the mess, but glad your friend called you!

worst thing is if we did take the dog to the vets now we would be the ones liable for the bill as we informed the owners and they told us not to take her surely there should be a safety net for things like this its basically animal cruelty

When are they due back? Does the dog appear in discomfort? Maybe the one pup was all she was carrying. I've never took a dog to the vet for pups, still born, or live.... I would follow the owners instructions if the dog appears okay.

Not sure what the systems are in England, but the SPCA might be able to help?

she's listless and hasnt been eating right for days drinking a very large amount and seem's uncomfortable she seems she cannot get comfortable normally i would not take a dogs to the vets for puppys either but this is not a normal situation the dog has been put thrugh hell the last week and my guts say something is badly wrong

The RSPCA would definitely come out to a situation like this and you woudn't need to pay anything. They would also look into any neglect/cruelty issues and act accordingly. Give them a call Nat.

If nothing else, they can advise what would be appropriate action. And no, I would not normally advocate a vet just for puppies, but the dog's health is the issue here.
