We hatched out chicks about a year ago. There were two roosters and they get along fine. The only problem I have is the less dominant rooster will NOT shut up... I kid you not he crows 24/7, you can go out any hour of the day or night and he is crowing. He is also mean.... There are times I can go in with him, the other rooster and hens and he is fine but then there are times he will climb up my leg and keep coming at me. Yes he has come to know my chore boot rather well, plus I keep a big stick in the pen to either herd them to roost or play "bat the rooster across the pen".

Getting after him only seems to make him even more mad.

Any suggestions as to what to do with him? My first thought is homemade chicken and noodles. I may call the neighbor who has chickens and see if he wants him.

He is a mixed breed, and a pretty bird but I dont need a mean bird running around. The other one who looks like him and is a bit bigger is very docile and rarely crows and has never tried to cross me. You just look at him and he runs for the roost, he is the dominant rooster from what I have seen.

Sounds like a candidate for chicken and dumplins to me.

Yeah I would get rid of that one! I do give young roo's a little time to settle down and learn to be respectful when they are about done with that raging-teenage-hormone-stage but if they are a year old or older and still giving me a hard time... then that's it. It's just to much of a hassle to have one like that around.

you could try seeing on the market if there is a electric dog collar for chickens................ but if not get out some sort of punishment but if that doesn't work or you just can not be bothered you could just copy chicken run where the old ladies making pies......

Mean and annoying? Rehome or kill. Why put up with it? I used to dread dealing with issues like this, but it gets easier with each one.You might feel bad for a day(or less),but after that you will be happy you dealt with it.
