sudden chicks/bantam deaths

HE Chicken has already helped you quite a bit- (and nicely!), but let me add my opinion to his/hers.

I agree it is most likely coccidiosis.
Signs are:
lethargy
won't eat or drink
sits in corner by himself with eyes closed
feathers fluffed up as if cold
may or may not have diarrhea
may or may not have bloody poo
may or may not have been exposed to soil (humans can transfer cocci to brooder)

I give my chicks (for coccidosis) Corid (in the cattle section of the feed store) 9.6% solution, 9.5 ml per gallon of drinking water, mixing new solution daily for 5-7 days.

You should see improvement within 24 hours from my experience. It can kill within 24 hours and is considered an emergency.

Don't be concerned about worms at that age unless you see worms in the poo in my opinion. Wormers are very hard on chickens and can kill a weak chicken. I would feed your little guys some scrambled eggs to boost them up if they will eat them. For the ones who are near death you might have to take a syringe or dropper and drip some of the medicated WATER into their mouths, alongside the beak (never pour it into the mouth, just drip alongside the beak and they will drink it in).

Don't administer vitamin b along with Corid, as it is a thiamine blocker.
