Sudden death

:welcome :frow So sorry for your loss. I live in Florida and have to deal with the heat. I do have large pens for my birds that I planted trees in many years ago for shade. My coops are well ventilated. We get a lot of rain especially in the summer months so I built rain/shade tables for the birds to get under too and they do like to get under them. The only way to be 100% sure what your bird died from is a necropsy. There could be any number of reasons. Good luck...

Hi, I'm late with my welcome, but I wanted to say hello, fellow east Texan.
I'm sorry for your loss. Humidity is our biggest problem. I make mud for my chickens. They scratch in it and sometimes just stand in it. It helps cool them off. Misters aren't a good idea here because of our Humidity. Cold water bottles are a good way to cool the immediate area. I try to limit watermelon and other cool fruits to twice a week.
Good luck with your flock!
