Sudden Duck owner needing encouragement

Thank y’all so much, that makes me feel better. We have chickens, goats and my Dad has cows but this is our first time with Ducks. My husband and I were thinking 4 or 5 ducks so having an instant flock of 12 is a little overwhelming

You will need to get them some proper duck feed. Especially the little ones. Chicken feed doesn't have enough niacin. If you can't find duck food, an all flock is good. Like Purina Flock raiser.

Ducks need feed with 55 ppm (parts per million) of Niacin.
Look for feeds with that ingredient.
I also supplement their diet with Brewers Yeast powder sprinkled over their feed. I use like a tablespoon per duck.
And, ducks love peas! Peas have niacin and make a great duck-treat.

if possible switch all the birds over to purina flock raiser, it’s great for both ducks and chickens. just add extra niacin in for the ducks (not usually needed but i do it just incase).

non-flying mallard? do you have a picture of him? i’m thinking that’s a rouen lol

He is about the same size as the female Muscovy.
