Suede Posed for Me Today (PICS), sorry Dialups!

awww sorry to hear you dont ship babies - i would have liked to have some running around here !! I think when I look for babies this spring I am going to try and get a few Blue Orp. I have a Buff female and love her laid back personality she is so sweet even lets me pet her while she is in her nesting box laying her eggs !

Cynthia

I have dial up....it was worth the wait for the pics to load!!!
Suede is awesome. I know sometimes pics just don't show how good they look, but if he looks better than the pics, he is something to brag about.

I am a first time chicken owner so cannot really say but when doing my research on breeds, the Orp's were rated one of the best for food to egg ratio. My 17 birds (breeds listed below) eat almost one standard feed scoop a day. But if out free ranging all day, they eat very little from the feeder.

Nice Boy Speckledhen!!!!!

Thank you catnip. I really have not noticed that the Orps eat any more at all than the other birds I have, which consist of RIRs, Wyandottes, Barred Rocks, Ameraucanas, and three or four crossbreeds. In fact, often when I go to fill the feeder in Suede's pen, I find that I don't need to do it yet, that they haven't eaten as much as I thought they would have.

Goooood Gosh, he's gorgeous! By the way Cyn, I'm not on the website as much as I need to be so forgive my ignorance of not knowing about Suede

He's beautiful no doubt and I know you're proud. I've always enjoyed your posts when I do get on here but it's just not frequent that I'm on this site. I'm not a big computer person but I'm learning. My DH has to down load my pics and all when i post any because I still don't know how to do it. I can write email and visit sites though. LOL Anyways,,,you've always been kind in replying to my messages. I usually post only when I'm in trouble and have a panic question over my birds. You seem to have a lot of knowledge in that department. I met Adam yesterday in person. I'm hatching a few of his eggs in my bator while his bators are full. I haven't hatched any since last spring so it's exciting to do all over again. He's a nice guy with a heart for chickens like mine. So now I'm on day 2 of Adam's eggs!LOL They are silkies by the way. He's also started a fire under me about some buff silkies which I don't have in my flock so I too decided to order a few eggs. Will keep yall posted as we get near the end. Thanks for posting your messages and keeping us informed with all your helpful info. Always an interesting read! Hugs and best wishes for Christmas, Julie

Suede is definitely beautiful and he deseves to be on the cover of Backyard Poultry magazine. I am serious about this you should enter his picture. Just think ya can say "That's my boy on the cover of Backyard Poultry"!

Suede is just too shy to be a cover-roo, LOL. I thought about it, though. Julie, Adam and I are getting to be very well acquainted now that he's on the third hatch of my eggs, right Adam? Nice guy, glad you got to meet him.
