Suggested Medications for a First Aid Kit - Under Construction

I noted somewhere that somebody was talking about cough syrup and specified no alchohol. I was thinking a watered down vodka or somthing might be just the thing as it tends to help things enter the blood stream faster. Is there some specific reason a tiny bit of alchohol is a bad idea?
Everything I have read says no alcohol, so until I find an article written by a vet that says it's okay to use, I think I will stick with water.

Preach It! :)
:D

Okay, it's been my experience that water is key. Without enough water, intestines stop moving properly and oral drugs don't work as well, so learning how to tube water or give subcutaneous fluids is ones best chance to save the critically ill bird.

definitely learning how to tube water was trying just dipping front of beak and tipping head back. I am pretty sure I accidentally drowned a couple of sick chicks when I first got started by using a syringe to squirt water into their beaks so I was trying to back off and do it slow like they do it.

I definitely know to push the water though. I wasn't going to like pour them shots or nuttin :p
