suggestions for bantam breed for kids?

Don't get Sultans. I don't know if they are paranoid because of the fluffy head, but our hen is very flighty and the rooster attacks anyone or anything. He kept getting into fights he couldn't win with 2 of my standard roosters at once, so we had to separate them and now they won't lay. They were raised from a day old and handled regularly, but they have always been this way. For some reason breed descriptions often say they are docile and calm, but they are the opposite.

Any type of cochin is great. I have some golden laced cochins whom i love but my Barred bantam cochin rooster is my favorite. He is a beautiful bird, very friendly, talks like a hen. In his near 8 months on earth i have heard him crow ONE time. I guess that would be why my parents like him so much. lol

I'm going to suggest a cochin also. I've had two and they are the calmest birds. They don't mind being cuddled and are very friendly when handled appropriately.

Silkies are cool too, but mine are scardy cats because I haven't handled them enough.

He is Tiny. Stands about 8 inches tall

He does crow but it is not a lot and it is not that loud. With him being the only rooster he crows a lot less. I love him.

i recomend the cochin for they are a good hardy breed and are very sweet as well the silkie gets lice very easly

I have some pure white cochins. Mine were not handled before I got them so there wilder, but the hen is the calmest of the pair. I also have a pure black wyandotte and he is farley calm.

Unlike .......seedcorn, I would not reccomend OEG's for children. Some of the roo's become aggressive even towards people. And they are quick with those spurs! I would suggest......Silkies , bantam Orpington's or Cochin's as all of these are calm type of birds.

I would have to disagree with King and recomend Old english game bantams, i have kids and they have never been spured by them, they come right up to them and love to be held. There fun you talk to them and they talk back.
