Suggestions on cleaning a used coop

I'm thinking of buying a used coop. The guy said he cleaned it as it does look pretty clean. I'm just wondering if I should clean with a disinfectant or even if this is a good idea to buy used. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

If the coop is of the right size for you and the price is right, I'd get it, wouldn't worry too much about cleaning a bunch, chickens ain't real sanitary anyway.

I have 3 coops already! I just need another smaller one and this guy built out of recycled lumber. I have 3 broody hens already filling up my nursery shed. I would probably put a paint job on it. My husband always builds mine, but in this case we cant make it for what he is selling it for.

I'm paranoid about biosecurity, and would want to know a lot about the previous inhabitants of the used coop, unless it was vacant for maybe ten years or so. Mary

That's what I was thinking. I don't want to bring any kind of diseases into my flock.

Don't worry about it. I mean really, the first time a wild bird flies over the run or coop and poops all your biosecurity measures are out the window. If your really worried spray a 50 50 mix of bleach in there and be done with it. Doubt it will matter much as nature has a way of punishing us for over thinking and over sanitizing. (think of all the super staph bugs cropping up in hospitals)
