I just got my first turkeys, 2 royal palm poults. I accidentally bought unmedicated food, thought it was medicated, and their poo started to look like cocci. I got sulmet, but have been reading that probiotics should be given with it, my question is, wouldnt sulmet kill the probiotics? Is there a way to do this, or should I wait till Im done treating? The probiotics say they go in water, and so does the sulmet, so Im not sure how I would even do that at the same time.

I think when people talk probiotics they mean yogurt or buttermilk or raw milk. I am fairly new to this all, but in my research on Cocci, much of the info about probiotics were in these forms. I don't think there is supposed to be anything in the water except the meds. Hope this helps.

Also, I routinely add a spoonful of yogurt to the drinking water of all the hatchlings, no matter what species. It gets their intestines off to a good start and the "medicated" feed is a vitamin based medication, not an antibiotic, so there is no conflict with the medicated feed.
