That is a good one! We had a hen get really sick from bad feed. She has not layed a egg in a few months and still walks crooked.

W have been giving her lettuce, egg, tomatoes, cheese, yogurt, granola, and many other treats.
But the only thing she'll eat on her own is lettuce. Should we worm them again? We wormed them about 6 months ago. We just gave them fresh feed about a week ago and it is sealed up in an airtight container. So I don't think it is spoiled.

You would be surprised at how often over the years I have had a brand new bag of spoiled feed. I would limit the treats too. Make sure that they are a small percentage of the diet. Unfortunately, lettuce has very little nutritional value. Try giving some polyvisol (without iron).

Also, you said that you opened that bag a week ago and the rooster died yesterday. You also stated that he didn't like the feed and it seemed he was extremely hungry for the treats. I would suspect it may be a problem with that bag of feed.

I think these guys may be onto something. Seems that many TSCs are selling moldy feed lately, so I wouldn't be surprised. Put your head in the bag and actually take a whiff of it. Is it clumped together? If so, it has been wet and is probably moldy.

I never said he didn't like the feed. However I did say he wouldn't eat it. He wouldn't eat from that bowl when it was in the coop, but when I moved him outside during the day, he would eat the food in it. And when I brought him inside the day before yesterday, he ate food from that bag. I am confused by the whole thing and I don't know why he was picky about where exactly he was eating. Maybe he had a disease that shut down each of his systems at different points in time. I really don't know. I still don't think the feed is spoiled, but that could be a possibility I guess. Also, this has been going on for a while, from different bags of food.
