Hello Sulmtaler lovers. This little one is 15 days old now and I think I have a fella. What do your guys think Rooster or Pullet? I would love to find out. Oh and also are Sulmtaler roosters Loud? Are they really active at crowing? Some roosters are calmer than others.

Ok, it is said that you can tell the sex of Sulmtalers by 'wing color' on chicks. Would someone please describe what is meant by this? I have not seen an explanation. I have 20 chicks here and would love to know.

Males have black in their wings, females do not. If females do it is more gray in color. By three weeks if your Sulmtaler has black growing on it's chest or shoulders it is a male. Also there is a Stripe on the upper wing in black that tells you it is a male.

Females do not have black on their wings, if they do it is barely noticeable

I hope this helps you. I was confused too until I had some chicks, Now I get it. it is a very obvious difference.

Hello, I'm just wanting to ask for any opinions about breeding my Sulmtalers, please.
I have a Wheaten pair of WC origin and a group of GDW and Wheaten that are GFF origin.
What are the thoughts of breeding the lines together for genetic diversity or linebreeding them to keep them separated?
Any and all thoughts, ideas or brainstorming is appreciated. Thanks!
