It is fairly easy once you get the hang of it. I use a 6 tray system that is 3 tall 2 wide. You need to get a special type of fodder seed which can be fairly cheap, I buy 50 pounds for $9.
To prepare the seeds you need to bleach them and let them soak overnight. Then you put the seeds in a nice long tray and keep them cover for a couple of days. Then you can use the grow lights that you need.
You just need a water restore with a timed pump. I run a constant water supply for 2 minutes every 3 hours. The water flows from one side of the tray to the other. The only thing is that you can't recycle the water. It is very simple and my chickens/turkeys love it. It cuts my feed costs by a lot.
It takes about 5 days to grow, you can grow it longer but my chickens seem to like it best when it is short and mainly a root but.

Huh, we already have a grow-tent / LED set-up, sure wouldn't be hard to include some trays of fodder in there along my fancy tomatoes!!

Fodder barley is what mine seem to like the most. You can also do wheat but it is a little more expensive and my chickens don't like it as much.

It's surprising how fast and big chicks grow in just a couple weeks!

I'm interested in sulmtaler(why l'm reading), but l'm curious what breed of sheep isn't shown? I raise sheep. Showing will be ruination of the border collie if not carefully.

My sulmtaler eggs seem to be a bit off. I have been decent at hatching all other eggs other than these. I just got done with a 2/16 hatch but then in the same conditions I got 9/19. I know that neither of them good. The eggs seem to hatch a day late also. All of my other eggs hatch a day early. I have been measuring the weight loss but nothing seems to work. The hens are first year hens so is that a possibility. I have done over 5 hatches of these but I only have about 26 chicks. Can you guys help by putting your exact hatching procedure in this thread.
