It is fairly easy once you get the hang of it. I use a 6 tray system that is 3 tall 2 wide. You need to get a special type of fodder seed which can be fairly cheap, I buy 50 pounds for $9.
To prepare the seeds you need to bleach them and let them soak overnight. Then you put the seeds in a nice long tray and keep them cover for a couple of days. Then you can use the grow lights that you need.
You just need a water restore with a timed pump. I run a constant water supply for 2 minutes every 3 hours. The water flows from one side of the tray to the other. The only thing is that you can't recycle the water. It is very simple and my chickens/turkeys love it. It cuts my feed costs by a lot.
It takes about 5 days to grow, you can grow it longer but my chickens seem to like it best when it is short and mainly a root but.
