My sulmtaler eggs seem to be a bit off. I have been decent at hatching all other eggs other than these. I just got done with a 2/16 hatch but then in the same conditions I got 9/19. I know that neither of them good. The eggs seem to hatch a day late also. All of my other eggs hatch a day early. I have been measuring the weight loss but nothing seems to work. The hens are first year hens so is that a possibility. I have done over 5 hatches of these but I only have about 26 chicks. Can you guys help by putting your exact hatching procedure in this thread.

A mess of babies from one of the last set of eggs...if they did not sell, I set them & hatched them for a while...here is some including the pure silver ones:


A few blue & black OEs and EEs in there also..

We seem the only ones, and I guess we should be all the more cheerleaders for this breed !
I am planning on an expansion of at least 40 main breeders this year, half based on a new color variation. Congrats @MonicaWA !!

Thank you for the eggs! I think this breed is so beautiful. I will taste a roo, if I have 2 or 3. I have never eaten my own birds before, but I have to try. Do they taste as good as they say? I assume you have tried them

I am looking at getting a few sulmtalers but green fire farms does not ship to my area and no one within 50 miles has any advertised. I'm not wanting to have eggs shipped as I haven't had any kind of luck with shipped eggs so my question is does anyone have resources that ship day old chicks to northcentral arkansas?

This time of year is pretty hot for shipping live birds. Is that why GFF doesn't ship to you right now? Maybe wait until next spring before ordering from GFF? Have you spoken privately with eBay Sulmtaler sellers of hatching eggs to see if they can ship live birds to you not thru eBay? I hope someone on this thread can help you out but this summer season is not the best time of year for shipping any poultry. You may need to wait until spring. I was looking for juvenile teenager birds in another breed this month but most sellers are either out of birds or won't ship in this heat so I had to go to my local feed store to have them order chicks for me. But even my local feed store will not order baby chicks by the end of August. We're also at the mercy of the laying cycles of hens to have hatching eggs available to get chicks -- we have to wait on Mother Nature's cooperation sometimes. GL!

I have updates for you guys!!

I processed off two of the boys and kept my silver Cockerel. I finally got two eggs to hatch from my eggs, both offspring are pure white. Hoping for some pullets!!!
