she weighs abt. 4 lbs. i didnt think the check her for lice, but after i got her i was bathing her and saw thousands all over her. I bathed her in dog shampoo, left it on for 5 min. ran to feed store bought something like 7 powder. i gave her 5 units of ivermectin, and 20 units of pyrantel pamoate. I have her in the incomming coop which is far away from my flock. i feel bad and keep going out to visit her. She is the sweetest lil gal. i so want to just bring her in with my seramas, but i dont know how effective these medications are and i dont want to spread it. I know i can not get lice, buti do feel stuff crawling on me. I got the podwer onmyhands and they feel really dry is that normal. I have 50 chickens and hav never had to deal with lice before. any advice? the bugs are long skinny and dark her vent does not look right .

she is doing well today. i still see a few bugs on her head though ( she had it really bad) how long before i can dust her again? directions do not say.... I am using y-tex Co ral. and how is the best way to remove the eggs around her vent? I called the gal i got her from and as delicately as i could i asked how long she had the sultan ( one month) and I then advised her that she treat her other birds.. 2 of my seramas went home with her. The poor thing had no idea. so glad i didnt put the sultan with the others. poop check reveals no worms this morning. just the lice, mostly on the head area.
I feel sorry for the sultan being all alone in the quarantine coop. i assume that the lice are getting on the ground in her coop. should i treat the floor of the coop with something?

Yes, clean out her bedding and give everything a good scrub. Some use DE in the bedding. I think the proper way is to re-dose in 10 days? Someone can help confirm to you. I would check the rest of your flock just for peace of mind even though she's been far away. I'm so paranoid about stuff like that it makes my skin crawl!

she still has bugs mostly in her masssive feathers in her hair. I am thinking co-ral was a waste of good money. I sprinkled some on her pine shavings God i hope it wont hurt her. She looks very very lonesome in that big coop. What product would work? I am not trying to control lice, i must get rid of it. I hate bugs especially on a chicken i now own.
