Sumatra Thread!

Does anyone think this little chick is a Sumatra?

age unknown

Sorry for just Jumping in the middle of the thread! Sex is unknown as well.

I'm going by the English standard for the Sumatras.

He has yellow feet and the pink on his legs is purple, recently the cockerel have been getting out of the wire and fighting so I had to put purple spray on Sids legs to stop infection.
So far the hens I have don't have fanned tails, I have a bantam who's tail isn't fanned and its the same with my other hens.

Sids dad is better quality than him he has a nicer shape, and I think the one good thing about Sid is his leg length. So I'll use that to my advantage.

Thanks for the input

Yes sir is was...not the biggest of show but still an enjoyable event. I think it was great for me at least because it was my first show to actually register birds:) I know I may not do this well at a much bigger show but we'll see. There will be many more to come!
yea i want to go up there but it is always the day after Sussex :(

I think that's what he means, it is too thin so it should be fuller than it currently is..

oh I miss read I have troubles with reading

reading is not my strongest subject.

Sid isn't to bad a bird tho considering he is from my first clutch, i want to get more hens, and when i do ill put sid in with hens which have good tails but short legs. so then they compliment each other.

im going to send my Ameraucana rooster to my dad so i will be able to focus on just having the Sumatras to breed.

champion sumatra how much sumatras do you have?

Do you know what sparse means? [ maybe if I'd spell checked it initially it would have helped, but I doubt it] It sounds like you think I was saying he had too much tail, but I'm saying just the opposite.
My Standard does describe the fullness of the tail: "Long, broad & flowing, carried horizontally with abundance of feathers, ends of which often drag the ground. None of that description sounds like the bird I was commenting on.
