Sumatra Thread!

Ok we will try that. There is a little one day 4H show in Nov that we would like to take the happy couple to just to see what a judge thinks of them. And it's all in one day so I don't have worry about leaving them for several days and getting too stressed. Thanks for the advice i realy was uncertain about taking him as he is still so untame.
Alexis whole club is excited to see the rooster she has talked so much about!
His feathering looks amazing! The two or three long ones look so tattered. The ones he came here with did fall out and those were the replacements, I hope they fall out and grow back by Nov! Or should I pull them a month before the show so new ones will be in?
I only have some 5-6 mo old chicks molting now, none of my adults are molting.
And I'm so excited, the sumatra hen has laid two eggs in two days!!! She quit laying past two months. But she is laying in my horses stall on the ground. The fist day she made a little hay nest and luckily my mare is not a pig so she left it alone. Then yesterday she laid on the bare mat, she tried nesting and all she did was scrape away all the shavings and the egg was cracked from hitting the bare floor. So today the Sumatras are staying in the coop until I find an egg in the nesting box.

Good luck at the show. I have been told by a person who shows, to pull them 8 to 9 weeks before a show so that they have time to regrow. But I have never done this, since I don't show.

I know I have seen pheasants at my state fair a few years ago, ok probably 8 years ago lol, I didn't know that they could be showen at a regular chicken show.  What kind does she raise?

Oh goodness I don't remember and I could be totally wrong about it being a pheasant it could be something else. She told me about it while about ago.
