Sumatra Thread!

Birds are doing good, just getting some settled into the heated shed so hopefully we can trigger them into breeding and laying so we can start hatching soon. No shows yet, been quiet around here, I think there is one in March and a couple in April for sure and one in Montana in May. Those are the plan at least, hoping that next January we will try for Stockton, this would of been a good year, not alot of snow. How are you doing?

We have a promise of a snow storm coming in today and snow is not a usual
event here so making sure everything is ready for it. I am hoping to go for some
new birds in another state next month but it depends on road conditions and
time off from work. There were some scheduled days for the school system to
be off but that may change since they are closed for the snow.

Glad to see you stop by and that all is going well. Hows the young colt and his mom doing now.

When I first came on here everyone believed that show sumatras should be game like or gamey. Sorry but that was not true. I was reading the description and it did not say gamey or game like at all . It will let you know if it were true, It would have ruin the breed. This is what you would get if you where breeding for gamey like type 1. an upright body 2. short high tail angle. 3. A narrow crow head and short saddles feathers which is a DQ both in the american standard and the american bantam standard.

Like my old Sumatra cockerel.

Raph, I'm not sure what you mean by "Like my old sumatra rooster", but remember that you can't compare your sumatras with the sumatras in the USA. Your sumatras go by a different standard.

Going to be a fun day here as we got some snow last night. Luckily not as much as they had said we could have but we ended up with sleet first. Kids are going to have fun, wonder what kind of snowman they will make this time.
