Is anyone interested in a Platinum cockerel?

Breeding this guy to black hens will produce 25% Platinum, 25% Dun, 25% Blue and 25% Black offspring.

He's still pretty small so he wouldn't cost much to ship, I already have a box and could put him in the mail Monday.
How much for him and to ship him to Oklahoma, could you trow in a couple really black faced pullets too!!!!???? Lynn in Okla.

( new to the forum today!!! Hi all

This is a Sumatra cross breed that is henny feathered. I don't have him any more but have wished many times that i would have kept him. He was just as stout and solid as he looks.

Hi my name is Lynn, it has been since the 80s that I have owned Sumatras, since that time I see some things have changed! I have a few newbie questions! First off can someone fill me in on all the NEW colors that Sumatras come in, would it be possible to get pics of each color posted? When I last showed Sumatra (LF) I had a trio of Blacks and back then and occasional white or blue was heard of!!!! I don't remember even seeing bantums back then. Now I have raised chickens since I was big enough to follow one around and up and into my 51st year now, I love the Game type birds, yes I at one point raised Games for sport, I do not now, I now consider myself somewhat as a preservationist, I collect rare and different types of chickens now, as of the present I have Toppy Games, Dom Games,Red Quill Games, Punkin Hulsey Games, An Oriental Game trio, Hatch type Games,Grey Games,Icelandics, RIR, Austrolorps, Americaunas, Naked Necks, Leghorns in White and Light Brown, all bred pure and an assortment of egg breeds for eggs to eat like the Black, Red, and buff sexlinks. My wife, 2 of my 6 children and I raise and show chickens and sell eggs. I ordered some hatchery Sumatras (LF) back a couple years ago and they were not bad but were nothing to compare with the ones I had in the 80s!! The new ones I got from the hatchery had too tall of tail and too red of face for me, the feet soles were also pale I thought. i raised them up to a yearling size and then sold them and vowed not to get anymore until I could find good ones to start with. Then I stumbled onto this forum, I had heard rumors of other colors in Sumatras but had not seen any, I am fascinated! Please share some pics and information if you can!!! Thanks, Lynn in Okla.

I will have to check the standard later but I don't think dun (chocolate in the SOP) is supposed to have lacing like the blues. My original dun hen has slight lacing but nothing like blues. Since they are still a 'new' color that not many folks have I am sure there will be variation. I know another breeder who is selecting his duns to have lacing like his blue birds but to me when they are heavy laced, they look too much like a sunbleached blue. But they are your line and you should breed what you like as far as that goes
That's right, the lacing is only an andalusian blue thing, shouldnt be involved on others. Dont think dun is choclate in the SOP though, those are two different genes. Could be wrong.... But no unless it's a true laced pattern, no dun bird will ever show lacing unless it has that as a pattern. The lacing in an. blues to my knowledge is just part of the color itself and not a true pattern. In other words. I cant cross my blues to duns and expect the duns to be laced because of the lacing involved on the blues.

Don't remember if I've asked this or not, but, is any one here a member of the American Sumatra Association? I've been thinking about joining but don't know the benifits or any of their programs.... there is verry little info on their site.

Yes we asked but I guess there aren't any members in the forum.....
Oh well.... if you have any info/feedback on the ASA please share.
Thanks
