If the feathers are broken and tattered you can pull.... I don't like doing it if I don't need to, he's been a cold weather bird and since you aren't cold there and have a big weather change maybe its just going to take the days getting shorter to throw him into molt. I say a minimum of 6 weeks for feathers to get back and on longer feather birds add a couple of weeks. I will just usually pull one or two, I would just wait if he needed a lot pulled. Poor guy, he was just low on the totem pole here in the bachelor pen and got his feathers beat up, bet he's loving being the only guy with all those girls. Sounds like maybe she quit laying to go through her molt and now may be ready to set some eggs. Good Luck at the show and hopefully he will be ready then or at least pretty close
He is happy and is a good boy! He looks amazing except for those couple of tattered feathers. If those come back perfect he will look amazing! I am so sad though as we think our hen has a broken wing. She has been getting her R wing feathers stuck between her legs for past month or so and I just realized she isn't using it and thinking back she quit flying up to roost in tree for a while.no more shows for her. Now the pressures on for hatching her eggs.![]()
