Should actually taste okay, I have had a similar Kale, lemon, garlic, apple concoction my hubby made it was good not yucky like I expected (get a really good food processor, or the new bullet, I have a juicer too, but the new heaver duty bullet works good & is cheaper) I prefer these veggie-fruit drinks with ice added so they are cool and slushy like, he likes them room temp. Not sure if that could make it down the throat, but when you have had a migraine for a few days in a row, one would try anything. Thanks Troyer.![]()
Note on kale... the fresher the kale the sweater it will taste all blended up.
Eucalyptus Leaves & White Sage: I use Eucalyptus in hot water to create steam that releases the volatile oils that are then inhaled to clear air passages, this can be done a variety of ways, usually a bowl of hot water with a towel over head and bowl works for people, I have seen it used for horses (that is where I learned it) I was a kid, it seems to me a feed bag was used somehow. For people I have discovered White Sage can be used the same. I also smolder both as a way to release the oils as well.
Tobacco: Tobacco has some good uses... my kids never missed school from ear aches like the rest of the extended family or their friends, I used only good pipe tobacco, and then blew 3 puffs of smoke in their ears at the first sign of an ear ache... my theory on this Native American Remedy is the nicotine dry the ear out and kills the bacteria. I only used tobacco for healing, not social or personal pleasure, I did notice when the kids visited chronic smokers of cigarettes (like 1-2 pack a day family members) they would come back with classic allergy signs.
Some where I learned that "medicine plants" have strong spirits and if they are abused the spirit of the plant will be offended and harm the user, to translate into modern thinking: The active ingredients in herbal plants should be respected and understood and not over used, some plants can be addictive or are very potent, so a little will cure allot could harm, just like modern medicine pills. People who are over dosing on Mugwort will have MS like symptoms for instance.
Growing Tobacco: Also I once found Smoking Tobacco seedlings at the nursery so I grew it for giggles, it is a very pretty plant, though listed as an annual it was a perennial in my climate zone 8, slugs & snails die after ingesting it. The cultivar I had did not self seed it's self so when the plants died of old age I had no replacement plants. I have tried growing it from seed last year but the seedlings got damp off, will try again next spring.
Roosters:
I have noticed lots of people have problems with Rooster aggression on BYC, so I am passing on these thoughts: When I had pet exotic birds (parrots and the like) I learned not to encourage birds to sit on the shoulder as it often leads to aggression issues (I have noticed allot of people say they do this also end up with aggressive adult roosters so I think there could be a connection).
Keep and breed only birds that preen to touch (especially roosters as they preen less then hens, and cull hens who do not preen themselves). I could find no explanation for this traditional game bird breeding policy but I researched preening: it is a social behavior in many birds, part of mating behavior in some species and a health maintenance behavior (a rooster that preens easily will have really pretty healthy feathers)... so I think the preening test may be trying to make sure that the behavior for self maintenance is being retained & possibly a wild behavior is being modified or recognized as an anti-aggression test towards humans. Just my best guesses on this advice I read.
Peace
