Sumatra Thread!

Okay good I was thinking they looked feathered out enough, I need to hit the feed store tomorrow for a bigger waterer though, it has been over 100 this week, so I want to make sure I have a bigger waterer... here's how they are looking so far:

I am really happy with their markings, I know not SQ pattern or colors, but I specifically wanted the more wild marked look to them.

I have to say that top pic is my fav I love the color and the face looks very dark a plus for me,i have chick that look to be about the same age and they have been out for a few day already

Yes, the top bird is my favorite too, she has real nice dark genes going on for a hatchery EE I think, good dark legs, yellow feet pads, and dark beak, her lighter companion has some nice legs as well just she seems to lack anything going on with the beak, when they start to redden up it will be interesting to see if the darker girl goes more red or more mulberry on her comb.

im no expert but I would guess mulberry

I am expecting the eyes to change to another color, I think they will be pea comb. It's been so darn long since I kept, but I am pretty sure on their combs. I have checked their legs for giggles for their girly nubs they each have 1 per leg. Their wings & keels seem to be maturing fine too. I am trying to evaluate them as they grow even if I can't have a rooster yet, practice in studying traits, development & physic for the day I can keep a few roosters for breeding.

:) Everyone thinks my dark girl looks like a hawk.

I had a few chicks with nubs like regular chicks you could see the single spurs on each leg but they seem to have lost or grown out of them. is that normal? they all have little scales now ,none have single spurs anymore

im afraid of some one reporting me, but I will try to keep a couple roosters. im in down town san diego and im not posed to have one but no one seemed to mind in the past so I will try to keep a couple boys

I am no expert but I know if they are Sumatra you want lots of spurs/nubs, sometimes the girls will get spurs too, but little bumps are pretty common on girls. How old are your birds?
