That is really pretty. I think strips would work. I went to walmart to get some more fabric totally having to change my block colors, now all I wanted was 1.5 yards of 3 different fabrics but the girl didn't know how to work the scanner so she called over a man and he could work the scanner but only he couldn't figure out how to put in 1.5 yards so he told the girl he was only going to charge me for one yard each, now the girl couldn't figure out how to cut 1 and 1/2 yard so she gave me 2 yards for the price of one. Wish I could have bought more fabric. I was 3rd in line.

Good day to be at the Georgia walmart

I think it would be fine to add a one or two inch strip around the outside to come out to the correct size. It helps make a group quilt like this less busy so you can really see what was in your block.

Dear All,

I've ahd visitors all weekend and am exhausted. Only just looked at BYC.

I can explain how to get the right size on the blocks with half square triangles but I don't want to get all preachy or bossy. Should I explain?

Yes, because newbies need all the pointers they can get namely me.

Fons and Porter does a great tutorial on quickly and accurately making half square triangles from strips. The magazine has the pics and wording that is excellent. As a self taught quilter (with a quilting gene passed from the grandma!) I would look at something and try to make it how I thought it was done until I got it right. Then I discovered all of the great resources that make it easy...and I love it!
