Sunflower Chickens

Ummm where are they? You have had a few minutes to put them up.

They are in a pen next to the pen with my two haflingers. They watched the goats without moving for the longest time. My free range hens were walking around them, and they didn't seem to mind the chickens at all......... but GOATS! They had never seen those critters before.

They have made their way around the pen. They got aquainted with my halfies over the fence. At that point they got pretty excited and ran back and forth across the pens a few times. They quieted back down and trotted and walked around, but they still keep an eye on those goats! Every time a goat moves or comes in or out of the barn they watch them the whole time... ears perked and heads up.

They are absolutely beautiful. You should see them run and trot around. I'm going to have to get pictures and maybe a video. (May be a while. It has been sprinkling off and on, and boy did it cool off.

I have 18 BCM eggs in my hatching tray. They should have hatched yesterday, but so far not even any pips. I'm going to watch them a couple more days. These are the ones that came out of the other incubator when the heater on it failed. Maybe they are just slow due to low temps.... how's that for wishful thinking?

Katy, that's awesome about the rain--finally!

My CL ad keeps getting flagged, so here's the info.

Come ride the spring trails in beautiful Linn County! Piercing Arrow Youth Ranch, a not-for-profit, grassroots organization, is offering trail rides to help raise funds for our 2011 youth program.
Our one hour rides start in the arena with a brief lesson on riding and safety. Once you are saddled up and comfortable with your horse, we head out onto the scenic trails. We will be riding through woodlands, prairie, pass a bullfrog pond, and enjoy ravines and ridges reminiscent of the Ozarks. Evening riders are often serenaded by owls, whip-or-wills, and many other songbirds. With our cool weather and emerging wildflowers, spring is an awesome time to ride the trails!

Trail rides are $50 per person, for a one hour ride. Each trail ride can accommodate up to 5 people, and riders of all skill levels are welcome. We do ask that children be at least 9 yrs of age, and adults be 250lbs or less. Available days are Fri through Sunday, with some weeknight availability. All proceeds help support our free riding program for under privileged, and at-risk children. Please contact Carolyn Zillner 816-seven one eight-3102 to schedule your ride. Thank you!

Yay!! I'm happy you got some! We must have got the same thing you did. There were puddles in the gutters and the ground was soaked this morning.

And now it's all of 50* out there, so maybe you'll get to keep most of it...certainly won't be steaming off into massive humidity.

It's windy and terrible out there. I'm considering putting on my insulated bib overalls to go out and do the rounds, for pity's sakes.

You know how much I whine about the cold!!

I don't like it either. I needed to work outside today but refused because it was too cold and windy. I guess the nice days we had earlier in the week were just a tease.

My phone tells me the week of perfect 70* I ordered is coming up on Monday. Get ready for your outside chores, everyone! This is the week!

Thank god, we found out the other day that whoever built this house put 7 inches of landscaping rock in the flowerbed at the front of the house! Needless to say I'm not amused! It's going to be a bad back week I can tell already!

Happy Monday and the sun is shining! YAHOO!

So, this morning I'm getting the morning coffee going and I keep hearing the new chicks in the garage raising a racket. About the time I get ready to go out, it goes quiet. I finally go out and what do I find? A June bug in the brooder! Everytime it buzzes or moves, the chicks freak out and run to the other end of the brooder box. Silly peeps! I guess give them a few more weeks and they will figure out that is food! LOL
