Hello you two out west!
Katy-Glad you got at least a LITTLE rain. Maybe there will be more to come. I know the first two weeks in June can be some pretty wet ones. Even if it is too late for the wheat, maybe it will help the pastures and ponds. We got quite a bit of rain last night, but the big story was the WIND. When I came home from work this morning at 3:30a.m. the wind and rain were blowing so hard I thought it was going to blow me off the step before I could open the door. The brome grass was blowing in swirls and the rain was coming across instead of down in sheets. Reminded me of some hurricane pictures I've seen.
Shellie-Sounds like you have had your hands full. Hope you able to get caught up soon. Sounds a little like me..... more projects than I have time, money or energy for, but it seems like I've always got time to add more potential projects!
Everyone--I am going to have some really nice ameraucanas to thin before long. I have black, wheaten, silver and LAVENDER! Wish I could keep them all, but that's not possible. I have 3 pairs of wheaten, and I'm not sure of the sexes yet on some of the others. These all came from John Blehm (Mr. Ameraucana) and Jean Ribbick, Ameraucana breeders club president. I will post some later on when I get closer to knowing how many I want to keep.
I was hoping I'd have more black copper marans, but with power failures and incubator failures I've not had very good luck hatching. I still don't have the numbers I want, but hopefully I will have a successful hatch before long.
I've got guinea eggs in lockdown right now that should be hatching in the next couple days. We will see. These were some that were in the incubator when the power went out, so I'm not holding my breath.
