A number of years ago I went to a wedding at a Nursery out that direction. Lovely place with a gazebo, where the wedding took place, and a big metal barn for the reception. I didn't get to see much of the grounds. What's the way to get there from 59 hiway? Is there another nursery out in that vicinity, called Gambels or some such?

Renee, pm me your # and I just may give a call for lunch sometime. Looks like a dreary day so far. But I have the luxury of getting to be home alone all day if I choose. I am so weary of running around. My elder lady friend has finally run out of medical appointments for a while. It's been a very hectic year so far, BUT I am much blessed not to have a job to go to every day, so days like today I am so thankful. Thank you God!

I have been buying from him for years-I love that place, miss it being right down the road from me though

Ivy, plug in Baldwin City, KS.

Its at least 1 1/2 hours, take 75 through Topeka to 56hwy into Baldwin City, then down 6th st/1700 rd north at Mcdonalds/gas station to 600 rd west about 1 mile and look closely for the sign

From 59 Hiway, go east on Douglas County Road 460, also called North 600 Road. Vinland Valley Nursery sits on the north side of the road.

There used to be several nurseries (Hamills, Baldwin Junction Greenhouses, Hickory Ridge, Clearfield Farm) in the vicinity, but Vinland Valley is the only one left. The economic downturn hit many of these small nurseries very hard, unfortunately.

Yeah, it would have been better if we'd planned this during the cold, cruddy weather, so we could all make time...we could still try! Unfortunately all of the graduation stuff is coming up and everyone is going to be insane around here...I know I have lots of events I'm supposed to go to, and my kids are going to be making me run them around like mad...the earliest I could do would be 2 weeks from Saturday, and we could all meet out at Vinland Valley with picnic potluck!! Have a lunch, get some greenery, see what a mean rooster is like, and gab!! Her boy clamped down on my finger one time and it was like I got hit with a sledge hammer. I haven't ever known a roo you couldn't pet...and hers learned me right quick-like!

I need to get out to the nursery- they have more pepper varieties than I have ever seen anywhere else. I got 3 different types of pimentos last year in addition to heirloom tomatoes and all sorts of other stuff. If we meet there I'll have to leave my checkbook and bring a small amount of cash

Oooh! You know I just remembered! They have a booth at the local Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. It's a pretty decent market and we could all meet there for a lunch afterward at a park or somesuch. I'm not sure where. Maybe the nursery would be better because I know they have the seating area. I'm not the best events planner...

On another note...the little chick I hatched from your eggs is adorable! I think it is a girl.

Renee, I hate to tell you but you;re sounding like the me I've been lately. ~sighhhhh~ It feels so cold today - 61 now- I really don't want to go outside. If the sun would crack thru the clouds I might get motivated. Well there IS plenty to do inside since I've not been home much this week. Meeting at the nursery sounds good to me, but 2 wks from Saturday is the morning I get home dead tired from the Relay For Life in Ottawa.

You all need to wish for no mail delivery on Saturdays! Who actually really needs mail on Saturdays anyway? Then all your letter carriers, AND their supervisors (one of which is me) could have a real work week and have Saturdays off! It would actually solve more than just a financial problem. Everyone asks for Saturdays off and there's just not enough subs to go around.

Enough soapboxing - that would be an awesome meet up - but a no go for me. I"m helping out in more than one office, so I'll be doing good to get a day off during the week, let alone Saturdays.

But you all have a great time - and if you don't get kicked out of Vinland, maybe they'd let us do it again when everything is half off! We could clean 'em out later in the summer.
The rest of us will want a full report!
