Superior Farms ordering .... any successes?

If he doesn't seem to have an issue with emailing you, relax and calm down. He'll get to you eventually. It just sounded like you were impatient for a response. Calling is the fastest way to get ahold of him about it. You could call and tell him you sent an email with photos about it, so that he will notice it a bit faster...and you'll feel like you're being listened to.

I am a calm and patient person, I must be on the bottom of the list of lots of people that had a bad shipment of eggs

And I still can't call him since I don't hear

I put a call into Danny mid week and haven't heard back yet. I placed an order end of December and was told February. I have only emailed with Danny up until this point and he has been very helpful. I hopefully will get a call back here Monday, but may call him again just to get some response.

Is this his first year to run a large farm like this? I read somewhere on here that Superior had some issues before, but I thought Danny was new to this farm and figured they were working out some glitches. Maybe they bit off more than they could chew and need the break next year. I am hoping things will work out with the chick order I sent in already.

Keeping positive thoughts here and hoping for better service for everyone else.

So sorry to hear about the eggs. I had a smashed box of eggs this year from another source and it was totally the PO's handling issue. I ended up with one hatchling out of 18 eggs. What a mess.

As far as I know, this is his first "hatchery" position. He got no training, was just put at the head of the poultry section of the farm. He is working by feeling right now.

The birds on the farm right now, are older hens and cocks so let's face it, fertility is not going to be as great as it should be. Honestly I'm surprised they even took a chance with shipping hatching eggs. I'm glad they will be building up their own stock instead of diluting it in order to meet demand.

In my opinion no business would purposely set themselves up for refunds, returns or replacements. This takes time and money. I feel that the shipping was done in error by lack of experience in such things. I am sure Danny did his best, and could benefit from support and education rather than a public lynching.

After reading this thread, I completely understand them closing up shop and rebuilding their stock. I would imagine they will think long and hard about shipping out eggs to the general public after this years experience and feedback.

I did speak with Danny the other day. He sure is a super nice guy. It sounds like they are having issues with orders because not all the birds are not laying. I know he said the Speckled Sussex had not started laying yet nor the SLW. So he must be dealing with older birds and maybe even weather related issues of basically is just isn't happening. He said it had been a hectic start to the year so he is really trying hard here. He was more than willing to talk with me and I explained I was more than willing to work out my order with him. I ordered chicks though and not eggs. Obviously he needs experienced packers with the eggs. Hope that works out better for everyone.

I hope they are able to restock later this year and next year to still offer quality stock to the public.

I wouldn't call it a public lynching. Just people sharing their experiences with a business....which unfortunately don't seem to have been that good. I've got eggs on order from them for mid-April. Hopefully I'll get them in a timely manner with good packaging and none broken. If they want to continue to do business it would probably benefit them in the long run to close up shop to build up their own flocks and do some training on how to package eggs for shipping. Whether people post their experiences here for other people to read or whether customers learn the hard way when they get their eggs without ever having heard of BYC there aren't going to be too many repeat customers for them until they change things.

Had an e-mail from Danny this morning, sending replacement eggs this week. I'll leave feedback when they arrive.

Just wanted to say that I am very happy with Superior Farms service on eggs, and really pleased with my interactions with Danny!

I ordered 2 doz bantam orps and 2 doz standard cochins. All eggs arrived intact at jmhappycowboys place (he is hatching them) - they were packed fine.

The only problem that arose was due to the post office initially sending the box with the standard eggs in them to the wrong state - the box was marked correctly and clearly.

The bantam orps that the post office delivered to the correct state had a good fertility rate - jmhappycowboy reported it as good - but I can't recall the exact numbers. I am driving down to see them hatch this weekend! WOOT!

The standard cochin eggs did not have a good fertility rate - but they were delivered to the wrong state and took a few extra days to arrive.

Even though Danny was not responsible for the post office's error - he offered to send replacements. He has been responsive and friendly in all dealings and I'd deal with them again in a heartbeat.
