Without this ability to forget where would second babies come from?
And wouldn't we all stop after our first broken heart?

Oh! Ducks that are happy to go home in the evening? How do you manage that? Only my Muscovy ever did that, but on their schedule. If I was not there to get them settled in, they would go back out on the pond and refuse to go in.
I guess just routine. I've done it every day for 8 months now. Last years ducks didn't do it though🤔. I guess what contributed to the helpfulness this year is that I added a fence on both sides of the run entrance so it's basically funneling them into the coop and run.

4th swim tonight, and lets say, they didnt want to get out. The water easnt deep enough. I need a bigger brooder already (they are in a 50 gallon tote). I really didnt think they grew this fast🤦‍♀️View attachment 3445527View attachment 3445528View attachment 3445529
That is plenty of water.

When I first took the Kahki out into the garden they were afraid of getting into the big pond so they swam in a little irrigation canal that leads from the pond to the fruit shrubs. It was about the width of 3 ducklings and it was just right for them. It took a long while before they were ready for a bigger pond.

Don't let them convince you to get them a tub so big you can't pick it up without hurting your back. Water is heavy.
