Today I’m taking out the towels from the ducklings brooder, and putting in the wood shavings. Is there anything I can use to clean it that’s duckling safe? Also here’s where I’m putting the duckling pictures. I’ll take them daily, but might update every other day, since I’ll have to go through the pictures. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/new-chicks.1565550/page-2#post-26698687
I’m also going to start adding the nutritional yeast, broiler booster, and quik chik to their food (kalmbachs 20% flock maker crumbles). Their food bowl has a capacity of 7 ounces. How much of each would I put into a full bowl? Also my friend says she would die for them, and to give them lots of kisses. I think they’ll be named figgy, blackberry, and mango, but I still want more fruit name ideas. Also do I really need to listen to all the safety things on each packet? And does it actually need to be mixed fresh daily; because I only have 3 ducklings, and I don’t think they’ll drink it all.

The yeast is 1tbs to 1cup feed
I haven’t used the drink ones but maybe just do 1/4 packet per day In a smaller water bowl as I don’t think you would be using the bigger buckets yet
I use pine shavings and have for almost 2 years no issues

Still feeling a bit down about letting beaker and hope go to a new home. This morning was hard when I let the ducks out not seeing them
But my daisy and peep got to join the flock again today and even followed them into the duck house tonight
First time since December
I know it was best for my flock
She did send me pictures of them ❤️
Then this morning I had the heartbreaking decision to put one of the new babies down
Poor thing got wry neck or neurological issues
I noticed her put her head back and fall over first day once but then she was fine running around by day 2 I saw her do it a few times by evening last night she couldn’t stand without going back over and over then was choking while drinking or eating I would have to pick her up and calm her to stop it
Was so heart breaking to watch her suffering
I started the E and yolk , poultry cell , vitamin B complex and Nutridrench on day 1 when I saw it happen once
If she would have been able to eat and drink I would have continued
She is now resting in peace
That’s why I haven’t been on all day
Just been a rough 24 hours for me
The other 8 babies are at their new home

I have always started mine on unmedicated chick starter from TSC and they have all done just fine. I also never gave treats to any of them and did not have any grit because of that. They stayed in a huge tub with wood shavings and would just scoop the dirty ones out and replace with new ones. I never have lost a duckling to any feed problems, never had any physical problems with any of them and they have all done just fine with this diet. They always had fresh water and an endless supply of food which all of my ducks still have today as adults. Once feathered out they got switched over to Flock Raiser and regular Duck food and also get lettuce for a treat but have a sand pen so they have plenty of grit to go with it. Good luck with your beautiful babies.

How are all your ductators today?

Im sorry...

So, as im trying to get the duck coop built as fast as i can, weather isnt allowing it. So i had to move the ducks to our unfinished basement, its usally around 50-60 degrees. Yesterday when i took them for a small swim Tsunami, sneezed some, so i checked her nares and they were clean, i also raised the brooder plate so they could go under more. Is it because she is cold?

Did they swim in warm water, how old are they?
Ducks do tend to sneeze in water, or after a good head dunk- it's just part of them flushing their nares out. I wouldnt worry unless it's really frequent
