I also am in N.C. with a bit of altitude. My chickens came out of there 'tunnel' to the yard day 1 then stopped creating a chicken jam-up till the back group figured they did not like snow. Day 2 certain ones came out, more by individuals than breed. Today they are all out in the snow doing whatever they do. Its sunny but cold, and going 'downhill' to the city today there is little snow. -----This has been the pattern all winter. Day one inside, day 2 the brave or stupid ones, day 3 most or all. I think of notheren MN chicken I have seen that go out below zero, and my N.C. babys that think +10 is the end of the wourld. Of course so do my neighbors who were 'snowed in' with 4-6 inches and I wondered what all the closings were about.
