Supposed to be chanteclers. Or something else?

I purchased these from breeder. Are they really chanteclers? I can't find pictures that look like them. I may have one rooster and one hen. Any thoughts on breed or sex?

Not Chanteclers, the single comb disqualifies the immediately. Chanteclers are cushion combed. So definitely something else.

Then I guess that's a positive. Are they good egg layers or are they meat chickens?
They're amazing egg layers. I have 3 and I get about an egg a day, except in winter because I don't have a light out there for them. Wonderful birds ! One of mine just went broody and hatched out 7 chicks ! My profile picture is her with one of her babies.

I cannot see your profile picture. Are you able to attach a picture for me to see what yours look like. I'm reading a lot of these posts and looks like a lot of people sell to people and say they are breeds that the chicks are not. It's a bummer because I paid different amounts for each of the breeds I supposed purchased.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I just got a Rooster about 2 months back that was said to be an Americauna and ended up being a Production Faverolle. Beautiful and kind bird, regardless. Just not what I thought he was. Here is my Red sex link, Crumbs and her baby, Penguin. Red sex links aren't known for going broody but you never know !

So just because they have red combs and wattles already doesn't always mean rooster. This whole thing is so confusing. I'm just hoping some of the twelve I bought are hens. Maybe I should just buy cheap hatchery chicks next time and take my chances. I paid $30 a piece for some of them. Ugh

To me they both look like hens. I have a almost 6 week old rooster that's got bigger wattles then your girls.

And if they are Red sex links then they're definitely girls. They will lay really large brown eggs almost everyday. I'd maybe contact the breeder and talk to them about it. Maybe they'll tell you what they really are. I'm very sorry they did that to you. Especially if they knew that it not the breed of chicken and felt okay making you pay that much. I didn't even have to pay that much for my Yellow Golden Pheasants and they can be $200.
