Aart brings up a good point that is leading to confussion. Thr GMO industry has been convolutng people's understanding of selective breeding (which is just humans setting the adaptive evolutionary process to reveal a genetic potential the species naturally pocesses) and hybridization (which can and does occur in nature) by attempting to say the GMO process is the same when it is most definitely not.
This public relations gimmick then leads people to believe all breeding for the maintenance or selection of specific abilities by mankind just like mamms nature does id bad, unnatural, anti nature and artificial. When this misconception is then paired with a belief that only wild animals are correct some real well meant intentions can go horribly wrong. Leading people to teach domestic snimals are all sick, ruined, lacking biodiversity (they actually express biodiversity), are bad, are not part of the environment (when they are often simply no longer wild living in the same environ as their wild ancestors or now perform a necessary balancing factor that if they are removed will lead to massive problems for that environ), and must be fixed or destroyed. Sometimes tne bandwagon to destroy unnatural introduced species leads to the destruction of native species when proper research has not been done to confirm species origin as introduced.
