I have a hen who went broody about 2 days ago. Is it too late for them to hatch safely? I'm in NC and it's getting kinda chilly at night now, and the temp seems to just keep dipping lower each week. I do have my homemade bator in the house, but since my last hatch of 2 chicks (from 4 eggs) it's been turned off and put away. So, I guess my question would be..... Is this normal??

I also have put in a heat lamp in the coop to offer longer daylight hours and a bit of warmth for those chilly evenings and early mornings..... I guess I dont want those girls to get too chilly! lol Could that be why she went broody?

I'm in NC too and have had three broodys hatching their bums off. Seven babies so far since late last week and they're doing fine, without extra heat.

Good luck!
