Before we go calling folks out and accusing them of blowing smoke perhaps you should research your topic..... English whites have head and back spots--- they were 1 of the foundation breeds used by texas a&m university in their quest to design "The Great White Quail" that was appropriately called a texas A&M. The A&M was a very specific strain that has in most likely hood been lost to indescriminate breeding over the past 2 or 3 decades. I have the original final study report from the university if you'd like to see it, But as Sam already knows finding original strain A&M's is near impossible..... We as humans can be lazy by nature, we learn color names as pharoah, a&m, and others.... and then we actually apply them incorrectly. The debate that A&M's are actually english whites has been raging here for a very long time. Most are in fact english whites, the probelm is that you have to kill the animal to know for sure.

So before we go callin folks out....

A. This is a family environment--- feel free to disagree at anytime--- thats our god given right here in america and a foundational beleef that lots of our service men and women have paid dearly for. Just do it nicely or the MODS will get involved

B. Its awful embarrassing to call someone out if you are actually the incorrect party.

Unfortunately because of the the "calling out" of folks who share their knowledge I think a lot of the people with a lot of knowledge are leaving this forum. I came here to learn from everyones experiences no matter their amount of experience and have never seen Sam call out that he's the leading expert on anything. Sam was simply lending his knowledge as many of us have asked folks to do. I have yet to see a post here or anywhere nor find a seller with actual "size" A&M's ? I have bought A LOT of "promises" and not a single bird has panned out to be near what they say they will be.

The color of this chick should be an A&M indeed but will it be mutt or live up to the standard Texas A&M Univ. produced and named it for? I'm going to agree with Sam and say no.

I'll just call it that white quail in that pen

No worries folks

you know I like the name Jumbo White. perhaps it is a resessive gene from two brown parents. If that lil chick gets as big or a bit bigger than his colored kin there, he might be worthy of the title!

So far it's not as big as it's hatch mates and it's not as active, so we'll hope for the best
