That's exactly what I got when I went to check on the chickens Thursday morning.
Apparently we had not taken the eggs from our broody silkie, Winter, because when I went to see her and the other chickens Thursday morning, I got quite the surprise; a little baby popped it's head out to say hello!
I think this chick is a mix of our buff silkie, Pumpkin, and our barred OEGB rooster, Checkers. The little guy/girl is velvety black with white on it's chin, and it has feathered feet. I can't wait to see what this chick turns out to look like! Already it's head and chin look puffy like it's going to have a poofy head and a beard.
I'm just praying it's a hen.
