I couldn’t figure out why I kept finding Serama Eggs under my Speckled hen while she is sitting on eggs for hatching. Today I found out why, she is making her way under the Speckled Sussex laying her eggs and taking off afterward. The smaller egg is the Serama egg.

She looks hot! :gig

This is a very common problem and causes issues with many first time hatchers getting early and late eggs hatching which can be very confusing for the sitting hen to decide to go with chicks or stay with eggs.

Most of us have to use a marker of some sort and clearly mark all the eggs meant to stay for hatching and check the nest nightly for new deposits. I use sharpie as pencil rubs off. I learned the hard way and collected an embryo but didn't notice the faded marks in the dark until the next day.

Glad you caught it. Happy hatching! :jumpy:jumpy

Any time one of my girls goes broody she has new eggs under her daily. Lol. Since we are not hatching out right now try just get collected and after a few days she leaves the nest. Mine has been awfully stubborn this time!
